( Personality ) :
Even upon first meeting Mituna Captor it becomes clear that something isn’t quite right with the yellowblood. Before the event which shorted out his psionics and reduced him to his current level of incoherency it can be assumed that he was as gifted as his pre-scratch self and dancestor, and when speaking to Aranea it is revealed that he often warned his team-mates of the impending doom that he witnessed in the premonitions granted by twofold vision. It was one such thing which prompted him to the act which would result in his current issues, where Mituna – like Sollux and the Psiioniic – overused his psionic abilities. The attempt to save his friends was successful, but resulted in the ruin of the yellowblood’s mental capabilities. It can be taken from his willingness to perform such an act that he was, and quite possibly still is, very devoted to his friends and will go to great lengths to keep them from harm.

From the interactions that we see, many things can be drawn forth about Mituna’s personality, the first of which is his previously stated incoherency. His way of communicating is sporadic and often confusing even, it seems, to himself, and it’s unlikely that a full sentence will pass without some kind of profanity being inserted. While he can be cheerful, calm, and even pleasant at times he can quickly flip to a far more angry and vitriolic personality at the slightest provocation. However, he can just as easily be stopped by a sharp reprimand, which will tend to result in a quick apology. A moment later, though, he can be back on the same track of near-incomprehensible babbling, lending doubt to exactly how sincere his constant apologies are (something which Cronus draws attention to in canon, before being interrupted by Meenah).

Mituna often has trouble comprehending things, and sometimes gives utterly nonsensical answers that make sense to no one but himself (and that may be a generous assumption). There is, however, one thing that can be said for him and that is that he is certainly not as helpless as first impressions would lead a person to believe. Certainly, his lack of functioning psionics and poor sense of balance make him an easy target for physical confrontations, but when it comes to verbal conflict he can snark and backtalk as well as anyone, despite obvious communication problems. His level of understanding of the world around him seems to fluctuate, but he’s capable enough to make fun of Cronus’ inability to get anyone to sleep with him, and to act inappropriately towards Meenah in suggesting she be the one to show him how to take his shirt off after she makes fun of him for forgetting how to do so. It’s at this point that she says he is ‘still the worst’, indicating that this kind of vulgarity was common even before he shorted himself out. This perverted side of his nature is also shown in how he makes occasional sex-related puns in his speech (for example, ‘5P0RN75’).

Despite his mental difficulties, Mituna has managed to keep (at least) two romance quadrants over the thousands of sweeps that he has been dead. Though we have not yet seen canon interaction between he and Kurloz Makara (his moirail), there is a brief scene in which Latula Pyrope (his matesprit) is shown to be fiercely protective of him (threatening to kill Damara if she touches him), and from that it can be assumed that their relationship is genuinely close, rather than one which is born purely from pity of the yellowblood and his situation.

In canon, we see that he can take a certain amount of verbal abuse in a way that seems as if he doesn’t realise he’s being bullied at all – however, when it reaches a certain point, he resorts to those trademark apologies, perhaps in an attempt to have the other party back down. Cronus is the most active perpetrator of this bullying, though Kankri – through his patronising way of speaking – also appears to pick on him. Meenah, despite her own teasing, is the only one we canonly see standing up for him against both Cronus and Kankri, though her motives for this can be called into question. Just the same, she’s as much of a target for Mituna’s uncontrolled vitriol as anyone else.

He can be deliberately evasive and will lie (badly) in order to avoid answering a question that he doesn’t want to. If pressed, it can be yet another trigger for one of his outbursts. Mituna is easily confused and doesn’t react to things in a way that most people would consider ‘normal’ – for example, when Cronus puts his hand on his shoulder in what he claims is a ‘friendly’ gesture, Mituna seems suddenly incapable of simply pushing him away, despite voicing his want to have the touching stop. While it’s obvious that he doesn’t want Cronus touching him at that point, whatever fight or flight response he has to the contact renders him unable to move, only to say what he wants to happen. However, it doesn’t seem that things of this nature affect his relationship with the violetblood on the whole, since only moments after this, he’s asking if he can follow Cronus when he goes to speak with Meenah. It suggests that it’s the possible intent of the touch (with his knowledge of what Cronus is like), rather that the touching itself which caused such a reaction.

The yellowblood also seems to have a large disregard for his own safety. He spends a great deal of time skateboarding despite the fact that he seems to fall off his board more than he stays on it. Not once but twice in the time the alpha trolls appear he can be found face down on the ground with his skateboard nearby. However, he also appears to take a good-humoured approach to his own spectacular lack of balance, referring to his skateboard as a ‘fall-down slat’ as well as other things that indicate he’s aware of his failure to stay on it.

As stated by Aranea, none of the trolls save for Kurloz – assumed to be with him at the time – have any idea of what actually happened to cause Mituna’s problems, and it’s presumed that he overexerted himself to save them all from some ‘looming threat’. Unfortunately, thanks to Kurloz’s silence and Mituna’s incoherency, they have never been able to find out exactly what occurred. It can be assumed that Mituna himself either doesn’t remember, or his communication problems keep him from properly expressing it.

( Strengths/Weaknesses ) :
Mituna’s main weaknesses stem from the event that effectively fried his brain while he was alive. Being dead should (or so Meenah believes) have fixed these problems for him, but unfortunately, this didn’t happen. The yellowblood has no functioning psionics to speak of, and has very poor balance, able to fall over even when standing still. He’d be utterly useless in any kind of physical confrontation. He also appears to suffer from a reliance on mind honey. This, in addition to his personality problems in general, all go towards adding up to someone who is definitely more weaknesses than strengths.

However, he does have a couple of things going for him. Mituna bounces back from verbal confrontations incredibly easily, even when he’s been obviously bullied or disturbed by something. He cheerfully requests to follow Cronus even after being freaked out by having the other troll’s hand on his shoulder. Mituna also has his moments of apparent quick-wittedness, able to dole out scathing comebacks and snark. There’s clearly something going on in that brain of his.. but exactly what it is, is anyone’s guess.

( Other Important Facts ) :
His typing quirk is possibly one of the most obnoxious in Homestuck, and his ability to spell fluctuates along with his mental state. It’s implied in canon that the only person he is coherent with is his moirail, Kurloz Makara. Should it please the mods, this may be because Mituna is – like Meulin – capable of communicating with Kurloz via sign/telepathy.
